At Deep Creek Physical Therapy, we personalize care to transform lives. Founded by Robert Dolata II, MSPT, our mobile physical therapy practice brings expert rehabilitation directly to patients’ homes and pools, offering tailored treatment plans that blend land-based and aquatic activities.

Our mission is to help individuals like Frank, a 93-yearold with cerebellar ataxia, achieve their unique goals and rediscover the joy of movement.

When I first met Frank, he shared his heartfelt goal: to dance better with his wife. For Frank, dancing wasn’t just a pastime — it was a way to connect with his partner and reclaim a piece of his life that cerebellar ataxia had made challenging. At Deep Creek Physical Therapy, we see goals like Frank’s as our purpose. Helping him take steps toward that dream is why we do what we do.

Our land sessions often include a short walk through Frank’s neighborhood, building his endurance and strength while enjoying the fresh air and familiar surroundings. Back at home, a brief rest at the kitchen table, while we set the mood with the Everly Brothers’ station — a nod to the music that inspires his dancing dreams. From there, we move to the counter, where the heart of the session comes next.

Standing on two balance pads, Frank practices dance moves like marching and weight shifting. He practices sidestepping, front-to-back stepping, and spins as well. Meanwhile, Mary Ellen watches from nearby, her presence a quiet encouragement as Frank works towards their shared goal.

The Everly Brothers once again set the tone on pool days. The water’s buoyancy provides a safe environment for Frank to challenge his balance and coordination. Together, we perform a variety of dynamic balance, stretching and strengthening activities, all intended to enhance his functional mobility, including his dancing. Mary Ellen joins us at the pool. Her presence adds a special dimension, as she and Frank share the space and their mutual commitment to staying active. The highlight of each pool session comes at the end, when I have the privilege of watching these two lovebirds dance together in the water — a heartwarming testament to their bond and Frank’s progress
